PLDT, the Philippines’ largest and only integrated telco, through its International and Carrier Business Group partners with the Philippine Cable and Telecommunications Association (PCTA) to strengthen industry collaboration and unlock new growth opportunities together.

To jumpstart the partnership, PLDT and PCTA jointly hosted an online live webinar to help the PCTA member companies accelerate their digital initiatives, especially during this pandemic period. The webinar dubbed  “Digital Customer Engagement in the New Normal” focused on the recent shifts in consumer behavior and how the businesses can thrive in the new digital economy.

“The current challenges brought about by the pandemic provide businesses a significant opportunity to rethink the way they operate and how to serve their customers in a simpler, faster, and more responsive way. We are very excited about this partnership with PCTA as it allows us to better serve the members and the industry,” said Katrina Luna-Abelarde, First Vice President and Head of PLDT-Smart International and Carrier Business Group.

Experts from various fields were invited to share their insights about the changing consumer landscape and how technology is shaping the new normal. Patrick Cua, Managing Director of Nielsen’s Retail Intelligence in the Philippines, Vietnam and Myanmar, spoke about the emerging behaviors of Filipino digital consumers when the Enhanced Community Quarantine was implemented. David Almirol Jr., CEO and Founder of MultiSys talked about the concept of “reset”—how the new normal drives most businesses to start anew and make changes in order to adapt, with the help of technology. Raymund Villanueva, Paymaya’s Head of QR Ecosystems, explained the surge in online payments and how its ecosystem is driving today’s digital consumption.

“This is the clear next step for cable operators, to move as much of the business online. As we foresee a contactless future, we need to have presence in as many channels as possible to strengthen visibility and connection especially at a crucial time like this. We are hopeful that as we move forward together, we bring our subscribers and communities onto a path to embrace the new normal seamlessly.” shared by Jose Luis E. Dabao, President of PCTA Inc., before wrapping up the event.
