In celebration of Philippine Independence Day, 12 June, top OPM artists Luke Mejares, Nina and Ice Seguerra performed in an online concert dedicated to global Pinoys.
Dubbed as Musikalayaan, there were songs about love and freedom, as well as stories featuring OFW who are serving as frontliners and volunteers in their respective communities as they do their share in fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event was organized and produced by technology services company PLDT Global Corporation. According to Albert Villa-Real, chief commercial officer of PLDT Global:
“Through this event, we want to provide global Filipinos a venue to connect and celebrate Independence Day through music and stories. This is also a way for us to recognize our kababayans who went the extra mile and showed the true meaning of bayanihan during this time of crisis.”
Viewers can visit the PLDT Global Facebook Page on 14 June (Sunday), at 6 p.m. (Philippine Standard Time). Filipinos from other countries can also join in at these times: United Arab Emirates at 2 p.m.; United Kingdom at 11 a.m.; and California, USA at 3 a.m.
