As the nationwide protests in Myanmar against the military coup continue, Filipinos in Myanmar who are currently subscribed to the roaming services of Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) will get free 1GB data access to help them reach out to family members, friends, and the Philippine Embassy in the country.
“We are here to support our kababayans living and working abroad, especially when their personal safety may be at risk. Connectivity is key during situations like this and Smart, through our roaming partners, is here to help,” said Alice Ramos, VP and Head of International Roaming and Consumer Business at Smart.
Filipinos who are using Smart roaming SIMs in Myanmar will also be able to access important sites such as the Philippine Embassy website and other communication apps through GIGAROAM 1GB open access, which is valid for five (5) days.
“We will continue to monitor the situation, and we will be ready to assist with more data roaming allocation for our countrymen in Myanmar should the need arise. Access to communication and information at this time are paramount,” Ramos added.
