PLDT Global Hosts Europe–Philippines Connectivity Exchange in Amsterdam, Strengthening Europe–Asia Digital Collaboration
PLDT Global, in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Philippine Embassy in the Netherlands, successfully convened the Europe–Philippines Connectivity Exchange on March 9, 2026 at the KIT Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam.
The invitation-only forum brought together European Infrastructure-as-a-Service providers, enterprise leaders, and policymakers to explore how the Philippines is strengthening its position as a strategic gateway for connectivity between Europe and Asia.
Advancing Europe–Philippines Economic and Digital Collaboration
During the forum, Department of Trade and Industry Undersecretary Allan B. Gepty highlighted the Philippines’ forward-looking trade policy and its role in expanding economic linkages through free trade agreements and global supply chain integration.
He emphasized that the Philippines is well-positioned to support innovation-driven industries while serving as a strategic entry point into Asia for European enterprises.
Philippine Ambassador to the Netherlands J. Eduardo Malaya underscored the significance of 2026 as the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the Netherlands, describing the relationship as longstanding and rich with opportunities for collaboration in trade, investment, sustainable development, and innovation.
He further noted that technology and digital innovation will play a central role in strengthening engagement between both regions.
Enabling Resilient and Scalable Connectivity Across Asia
PLDT Global Chief Operating Officer Edith Gomez-Cudiamat and Vice President and Head of Global Business Roselle Dela Cruz presented the company’s expanding global infrastructure and its role in enabling resilient connectivity between Europe and Asia.
The presentations highlighted PLDT Global’s:
